FALL 2012 MISSION TRIP: We are planning our next mission trip for the Fall of 2012 - most likely late October or mid November. We will be building 2 playgrounds in impoverished colonies in the Puerto Vallarta area. Once we have set the dates and the costs, we will be posting that information here on the website. If you have an interest in this trip, please contact me at christena.callaghan@gmail.com and I will put your name on the list. No financial commmitments are needed at this early stage.

MAY 2011 MISSION TRIP: At the beginning of May, 2011, 25 people gathered at the Calgary Airport to give of their time, hearts, pocketbooks and energy to join together for our mission trip to Puerto Vallarta. Amongst this group were Calgary Firemen, Calgary and Edmonton Police Officers and other members of emergency service employees.

Our mission was to build 2 playgrounds in 2 impoverished neighbourhoods in the Vallart area. These locations had been previously chosen by the social service office there. The playgrounds are "rescued" by another Foundation - Emmanuel - to be placed in areas of need in third world countries. We were also working with the Diakonos Foundation that works to support the members and families of emergency service workers here in Calgary and Edmonton.

Although it was relatively a group of strangers that boarded the plane in Calgary, it was a group that had become like a family by the end of our mission trip. It is amazing the bonds that grow when a group of people work (and boy did they work!) side by side for a positive goal. So rewarding!! To see the joy on the faces of all those liitle children at the opening ceremony is a memory I know that none of us will ever forget - still gives me goosebumps. Another very cool thing about those playgrounds is that they are dedicated to Cliff Robinson, a Calgary Firefighter who passed away a few years back. His wife, Harriet paid for the playgrounds and worked so, so hard to build these as a tribute to the love of her life. I know that Cliff is smiling down as he sees the joy they have brought to all those beautiful little ninos. Please have a look at our gallery for some great shots from this mission trip.

OCTOBER 2009 MISSION TRIP: In October of 2009, 22 people left Calgary on a mission trip to Puerto Vallarta to build 2 homes for 2 of the single Mother firefighters there.  The trip was a joint effort between Angels for Mexico and Diakonos and was a very rewarding one for all.  The conditions that these 2 brave young ladies and their families had been living in prior to our project was dismal to say the least.  The work was hard and the days very, very hot but an amazing bond was formed by the generous people who chose to come on this mission trip with us.  The gratitude shown by the joy, smiles and tears on the these 2 families is a picture that all of us involved will carry in our hearts for a very long time  See our gallery photos to see how our mission unfolded.
